We all know the statistics by now everyday there is another article that comes out on the rising Childhood Obesity epidemic in North America. Exercise and Good Food Choices: The Path to a Childs's Healthy Future.
The solution is to move more and eat more greens. Kids can be over weight but still be under nourished.

What’s really driving the childhood obesity epidemic?

"Childhood obesity can be socially heartbreaking, especially for an overweight teen, and a precursor of myriad future health problems. From a social perspective, cyber and in-person bullying because you are different or overweight – if you are the target, if you are the last one picked for the team – can cause a kid to shut down, even cause suicide,” said Melody Case, Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley wellness and youth fitness specialist. Obese kids can have social problems and difficulty in peer relations, and there are mental-health consequences, such as depression.

The list of obesigenic features begins with (but is certainly not limited to), an abundance of  relatively cheap, high-calorie, nutrient-poor processed food that is intensely marketed to children, urban sprawl that promotes driving and discourages walking and biking, an emphasis on sedentary entertainment (TV, computers), reduced resources for physical education and recreational activities and hectic lifestyles that preclude sit-down family meals.

Battling Obesity

With a recent report that predicts overwhelming statistics on the growing epidemic of child obesity throughout the world, there is now glaring evidence that demands that we as a society need to reverse this plague-like trend. The Associated Press has reported findings of the International Journal of Pediatric Obesity (IJPO) that there is a worldwide problem in the increasing numbers of overweight children.
